I don't know what I scored on the first quiz. I didn't bother to write the second.
I did not register any "tip." but I wanted you to feel that you tried and that perhaps there was some good will in there somewhere.
BTW, ignorance and absent-mindedness != stupidity. And I have short legs, so if you pull 'em, it doesn't take much to offend me. There are other ways to poke polite fun... at someone who's probably 2.5 times your age. |

Dude, I did not say that you approach was invalid and i would suggest that more than "some" of those 100 math teachers would find both of these approaches valid. However I just implied that my way is easier and faster= more convenient.
Yes since you failed to see the benefit of this "Grade 5" suggestion ("I don't see how your Grade 5 suggestion about whole numbers really helps" from my "if you have many variables it is easier to operate with whole numbers not 1/2 or 1/7"
I tried to explain it as simple as I could to a person who does not understand Grade 5 level tips = 4th grader.
Moreover, I used the Grade 5 attitude as I assumed that it will be closer and thus more understandable to you...
P.S. I did not imply that I am a great pedagogue, in fact i suck in explaining things that seem self-evident to me(as I am a bit thrown off by the stupidity of a person not understanding such thing)

Heh, LOL lecturing on Grade 5 math with a fricking Grade 5 attitude. Not a great pedagogue.
You think you're trying to save somebody effort, but frankly you come across giving more LIP than TIP. 
Talk to one hundred different math teachers and I'm sure some will find validity in both of our approaches. But if you talk to five sociologists, all of them will find you needlessly pompous.  |

in other words if you for example 7 body parts
one being 67/99 other 20/99, etc it is easier to divide once and multiply 7 times, rather than dividing and multiplying 7 times...
If you still don't get it its ok, when you get in 6th grade and you will have equations which take up all the blackboard you will start to appreciate my tip |

My suggestion came from your calculations - the part
"body = 18″ / 0.5
body = 18″ * 2"
of course you can do it in your head (I hope you can)... however as I said if you have for example
A fish has a head 21" long. The tail is equal to the size of the head plus one-seventh the size of the body. The body is the size of the head plus the tail"
by your calculations we would come down to the
(yes I know it can be easily cacaulated in yor head and does not take longer than a second, but it is just an example, Hung KoK)
x(body)=1/7x+42
6/7x=42
now following your caculations:
body=42/(6/7)
body=42*(7/6)
body=(42/6)*7
body=49
tale=49/7+21=28
while i have
7x(body)=x+42
6x=42
x=7 ---> body=7*7=49
tale=7+21=28 (and no division necessary here unlike your calculations)

Tail = 2*Head + (1/2)Body
Tail = 12 + (1/2)Body
Body = Head + Tail
Body = 18 + (1/2)Body
(1/2)Body = 18
Body = 36
Tail = 12 + (1/2)36
Tail = 12 + 18
Tail = 30
Length = Head + Tail + Body
Length = 6 + 30 + 36
Length = 66 + 6

How LONG IS THE FISH = 27+9+36=72 (4.th answer)?
P.S. a tip for future calculations if you have many variables it is easier to operate with whole numbers not 1/2 or 1/7() ---->
tail=x+9
body=2x=x+9+9
x=18 - tail= 27; body=36;
fish=9+27+36=72

Hey, doofus, I wasn't arguing the difficulty of the question, I was arguing that there is no correct answer to choose from (or no alternative of "none of these answers is correct".
My calculations:
head = 9″
tail = head + 0.5(body)
tail = 9" + 0.5(body)
body = 9″ + 9″ + 0.5(body)
ergo,
body = 18″ + 0.5(body)
1.0(body) - 0.5(body) = 18″
0.5(body) = 18″
body = 18″ / 0.5
body = 18″ * 2
body = 36″
Interestingly enough, although the other quiz differs slightly, I found the same answer of 36" for both quizzes, and this is not among the choices. Post your own work, Einstein. |

I like this IQ thing cayne puts it in every now and then... the strange thing is that he usually wrights" i had 128 (or 6)" now its suddenly 129)))... I took this test once and got 148 (not a real iq test though) you can find your result if you take a closer look at the page and navigate through iq links a bit (as far as i remember)
P.S. Busta thanks for the link this was much more chalenging than the the one in the daily update.
Btw i had 140, thus we can assume that it also is not a real one =) |
