| Re Karen and Black Lives Matter. The use of the pejorative term Karen, in the link title, is unfortunate. The video doesn't show what provoked the behavior of the African American customer, but this customer repeatedly enters non-customer areas, assaults staff verbally and physically, punches staff members, and throws and damages restaurant equipment. During all of this, the staff take a hands-off approach, and back away. It is only after the customer fills a large cup with ice and soda and throws this cup at a staff member, and then enters the kitchen again, to punch this same staff member, that another member of staff intervenes. Granted, the intervening staff member uses significant force, punching the customer repeatedly. What is the real issue here? It's hard to say, but the customer attacks and taunts them to call police, so it is no wonder that the police show up and arrest the customer. |
